The award was given to the film MAGIC(S) for outstanding achievement in the documentary genre. MAGIC(S) is a subject driven, first person account of Magic Michael, a unique and gifted “smile activist,” who travels to various pediatric wards throughout Israel bringing laughter and humor to kids (and their families) who have been hospitalized due to illness or injury. Here both Jewish and Arab parents and medical staffs candidly praise his talents while defining contemporary life in Israel and the daily struggle created by the ongoing political and cultural tensions in the region. The film, combined with a remarkable original score by Smokey Miles, has been a monumental labor-of-love ever since its inception. The Accolade Award marks the second time MAGIC(S) has been recognized after being awarded the Bronze Remi from Worldfest-Houston 2005. The Accolade Competition was created to honor and give recognition to outstanding craft and creativity in film, video, television and commercials. Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry. Information about the Accolade and a list of recent winners can be found at www.accoladecompetition.org.
